Answer:

x = 7 and y = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given---> 3x + y = 19 and x + 3y = 1

To find ---> Value of 2x + 2y

Solution---> 3x + y = 19 ....................... (1)

x + 3y = 1 .......................... (2)

We solve these equation by substitution method

x + 3y = 1

=> x = 1 - 3y ...........................(3)

Putting x = 1 - 3y in equation (1) , we get

3x + y = 19

=> 3 (1 - 3y ) + y = 19

=> 3 - 9y + y = 19

=> -8y = 19 -3

=> -8y = 16

=> y = -16 / 8

=> y = -2

Putting y = -2 in (3) ,we get

x = 1 - 3y

=> x = 1 - 3 (-2 )

= 1 + 6

=> x = 7
