 \huge \mathfrak \red{Solution!}

Given, equations are :-

3x - y = 20............(1)

- 7x + y = 40...............(2)

 \bold {Elimination \:Method}

Adding (2) + (1),

-7x + y + 3x - y = 60

=> - 4x = 60

=> x = 60/ - 4 = - 15

Putting the value of x = - 15 in equation (1),

3×-15 - y = 20

=> - 45 - y = 20

=> - y = 20 + 45

=> y = - 65

Hence, the value of x is - 15 and y is - 65.

HELLO FRND

 <b>3x - y = 20
-7x + y = 40

USING SUBSTITUTION METHOD :

3x - y = 20 ---------(i)
-7x+y = 40 ----------(ii)

From eq.(i)

3x = 20 + y
x = 20 + y/3

Putting this in eq.(ii)

- 7(20 + y/3) + y = 40
-140 -7y + 3y = 120
- 4y = 120 + 140
-4y = 260
y = -65

Now,

x = 20 + y/3
x = 20 + (-65)/3
x = -45/3
x = -15

So , x = -15 & y= -65
