2

Answer:

x =2 and y = -1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

3 x + y =5           ...(i)

2 x + 3 y =1         ...(ii)

Solution:

By (i),

    y = 5 - 3 x      ...(iii)

On putting y = 5 - 3 x in (ii),

 2 x + 3(5 - 3 x) = 1

=> 2 x + 15 - 9 x = 1

=>                -7 x = 1 - 15

=>                 -7 x = -14

=>                   x = -14/-7

                      x = 2

On putting x = 2 in (iii),

   y = 5 - 3*2 = 5 - 6 = -1

Therefore, x =2 and y = -1.                  Ans.
