answer:Let us denote then by D, D(x) & D(y).

D is (3 -1 second row 1 4)

(3*4) - (1*(-1)) = 12+1=13

D(x) is (7 -1 and 11 4 in the second row)

(7*4 -(11*(-1))=28+11=39

D(y) is (3 7 1 11 in the second row)

33–7=26

Now, x=39/13=3

y=26/13=2
