This can be solved by the process of spitting of the middle terms.

Given,

 {3x}^{2}  + 2x - y = 5

 {3x}^{2}  + (3 - 1)x - y = 5

 {3x}^{2}  + 3x - x - y = 5

Now find the common term

3x(x + 1) - 1(x + y)

(x + 1)(3x - 1)

Now,

x + 1 = 0 \\ x =  - 1

And,

3x - 1 = 0 \\ 3x = 1 \\ x =  \frac{1}{3}

hence \:  the \: required \: aswers \: are \: 1 \: and \: \frac{1}{3}
