3x² - 4x - 4 = 0

3x² - 6x + 2x - 4 = 0

3x(x - 2) + 2(x-2) = 0

(3x+2)(x-2) = 0

As we know that if product of two terms is zero then either first term is zero or second term is zero.

3x + 2 = 0

x = -2/3

Or

x - 2 = 0

x = 2

Hence,

x = -2/3 or 2
