Solution :

Given two expressions are ,

first expression = 3x² + 5xy - 9,

second expression = x² - 2xy + 5

Subtracting second expression from

first , we get

3x² + 5xy - 9 - ( x² - 2xy + 5 )

= 3x² + 5xy - 9 - x² + 2xy - 5

= 3x² - x² + 5xy + 2xy - 9 - 5

= ( 3 - 1 )x² + ( 5 + 2 )xy - 14

= 2x² + 7xy - 14
