b^2-4ac
(6+4a)^2 - 4(3)(8a)
(6+4a)=4(3)(8a) = 96a
16a^2 + 48a + 36 = 96a
16a^2 + 48a + 36 - 96a =0
16a^2 - 48a + 36 =0
4a^2 - 12a +9=0
( ➗ by 4 because 4 is common to the equation)
4a^2- 6a - 6a + 9=0
2a(2a-3) - 3(2a-3)
(2a-3)(2a-3)
a= 3/2; 3/2
