3x² + 11x + 10

3x² + 6x + 5x + 10

3x ( x + 2 ) + 5 ( x + 2 )

3x^2 + 11x + 10

We can factorise it by splitting the middle term

3 {x}^{2} + 11x + 10 \\ 3 {x}^{2} + 6x + 5x + 10

I splitted 11x to 6x + 5x

How to recognise ?

You have to just mutiply the front and back number and split the middle number accordingly.

( Note that it only works for quadratic trinomials. )

So, factorising further , we get

3x(x + 2) + 5(x + 2) \\ (x + 2)(3x + 5)
