Cost price of nine pens, four books and six erasers = Rs.228

Cost price of four pens, six books and nine erasers = Rs.228

To find :

Cost price of five pens

Solution :

Let the cost of one pen be Rs.x

Let the cost of one book be Rs.y

Let the cost of one eraser be Rs.z

Hence ,

The cost of 9 pens = 9x

The cost of 4 books = 4y

The cost of 6 erasers = 6z

According to the problem ,

9x + 4y + 6z = 228......i

Also,

The cost of 4 pens = 4x

The cost of 6 books = 6x

The cost of 9 erasers = 9z

According to the problem ,

4x + 6y + 9z = 228......ii

Adding equations i and ii :
