4  - 16(a - b)²

Take out 4 as the common factor:

= 4 [ 1 - 4(a- b)² ]

Make the two numbers perfect square:

= 4 [ 1² - [2(a- b)]² ]

Apply a² - b² = ( a + b) (a - b):

= 4 (1  - 2(a - b) )( 1 + 2(a - b) )

Simplify:

= 4 (1 - 2a + 2b) (1 + 2a - 2b)

Answer: 4 (1 - 2a + 2b) (1 + 2a - 2b)

genius7763: it is wrong....... when 4 it taken common so 1-4(a-b) ^2 is left
genius7763: now it is correct
genius7763: not indeed in last step - and - should make +
genius7763: ie (1-2a+2b)
