4) 24.12 kJ/k mole, 16.12 kJ /k mole
A gas is compressed isothermally and adiabatically. The corresponding change i
volume are found to be 51 c.c and 34 c.c. The value of y for the gas is (both have sam
initial pressure and volume and under go same change in pressure)
1) 1.67
2) 1.4

Answer:

Explanation:

so we know pv^y is a constant for adiabatic process and pv is a cont for isothermal process so

(y indictes gamma of a gas)

approximately we can say

-ydeltav/v= deltap/p for adiabatic process & ------- 1

-deltav'/v'= deltap'/p' for isothermal process -------- 2

according to question deltap'/p' = deltap/p

and p=p' and v=v'

and deltav=34cc

and deltav'=51cc

dividing 1 and 2

we will get y=deltav/deltav'

that is 51/34=1.5

answer d has been missed it is nothing but 1.5 i have the seen the question in some of my school examinations
