We solve this practically as follows.
Lets have a number line beginning from -2 to + 2
the number of intervals is as follows.
-2 ↔ -1 ↔ 0 ↔ 1 ↔ 2
we have 4 intervals between -2 and + 2
Now lets add 1 to both numbers :
-2 + 1 = -1
2 + 1 = 3
Lets draw the number line again.
-1 ↔ 0 ↔ 1 ↔ 2 ↔ 3
The number of intervals is still 4 .
Conclusion :
when we add 1 to both numbers the interval remains the same as the previous interval.
The answer is therefore C
