molecular mass of any gas weighs 22.4dm^3 at S.T.P

4.48dm^3 of ammonia weighs 3.4g at S.T.P

=>22.4dm^3 of ammonia weighs (22.4X3.4)/4.48

=17g

therefore molecular mass of ammonia is 17g

Given - Weight of gas at 4.48 dm³

Find - Molecular weight of the gas

Solution - The molecular weight of the gas is 17 grams.

4.48 dm³ of gas weighs 3.4 gram

Thus, 22.4 dm³ of gas will weigh = 3.4*22.4/4.48

22.4 dm³ of gas will weigh = 17 gram

Now, as per the known facts, 1 mole of any gas occupies 22.4 dm³. Also, the molecular weight of gas is the mass of 1 mole of gas.

Thus, the molecular weight of the gas is 17 grams.
