Answer:

4/5 + 2/4 = ?

Over here, the denominators are not same. So we have to first find the LCM of the denominators (5 and 4) to be able to add them.

So, the LCM of 5 and 4 = 20

And now, we have to multiply the numerators and the denominators to get 20 as denominator.

⇒ 4/5

⇒ 4 x 4 / 5 x 4

⇒ 16/20

And,

⇒ 2/4

⇒2 x 5 / 4 x 5

⇒ 10/20

And now that the denominators are same, we can now add them.

\frac{16 + 10}{20}

⇒ 26/20

And now, we can convert 26/20 into it's lowest term (optional).

⇒ 26/20

⇒ 26 ÷ 2 / 20 ÷ 2

⇒ 13 / 10

∴ 4/5 + 2/4 = 26/20 (or) 13/10 (or) 1.3

Thnx and have a nice day!
