Hey there !

4/5 (y+5/6)- 2/3(y-1/4) = 7/6

4/5y + 4*5/6*5 - 2/3 y +2/3*1/4 = 7/6

4/5 y +4/6 - 2/3y +1/6 = 7/6

4/5-2/3 y =7/6-5/6

12-10/15 y =2/6

2/15 y = 2/6

y = 2/6 *15/2

y= 15/6

y=5/2

hope helped !

aanu009: hey buddy, why did you take a reciprocal for values inside the bracket ?

4/5 (y+5/6) - 2/3 (y-1/4) = 7/6
4/5y + 2/3 -2/3y + 1/6 = 7/6
4/5y - 2/3y = 7/6 - 2/3 - 1/6
(using LCM to solve we get)
(12y-10y)/15 = (7-4-1)/6
2y/15 = 2/6
y = 2/6 x 15/2 (reciprocal of 2/15)
Therefore, y=5/2.

Hope it helps.
