Given:

The arithmetic progression: 4, 7, 10,.....

To find:

How many times the common difference is to be added to 1st term to get 5th term

Calculation:

The nth term of the A.P is given by

 Tₙ = a + (n-1)d

5th term of the given A.P is

=> T₅ = a + (5-1)d

         = 4 + 4(3)

         = 16

DIfference between the first term and 5th term is

=> Difference = 16 - 4 = 12

The difference should be expressed in multiple of common difference

=> 3x = 12

=> x = 4

The common difference should be added 4 times to the first term to get 5th term
