In fraction

4 + (7/8)

can be written as

(4/1 ) + ( 7/8)

The fractions have unequal denominators.

so we must equalise the denominators.

Taking L.C.M. of 1 and 8

we get

L. C. M. of 1 and 8 is 8.

( 4 x 8 / 8 ) + ( 7/8)

simplifying the first term

= (32/8) + ( 7/8)

= ( 32 + 7 ) /8

= 39/8

In Decimal

4 + (7/8)

= (4/1 ) + ( 7/8)

= ( 4 x 8 / 8 ) + ( 7/8)

= 39/8

Dividing 39 by 8 we get

4.875

Hence solution of 4 + ( 7/8) in fraction is 39/8

In Decimal the solution is 4.875.
