Given : Virat obtained 18% marks in an examination and he failed by 60 marks.

Passing marks are 33%,

To Find :  total marks are

(1) 350

(2) 400

(3) 450

(4) 500

Solution:

Let say  Total Marks  =  100 M

Virat obtained 18% marks  = (18/100)100M = 18M

Passing marks are 33% = (33/100) 100M  = 33M

Failed by  33M - 18M = 15M

15M = 60

=> M = 4

=> 100M = 400

total marks are  = 400
