Explanation:

Given 4.8 g of oxygen is adsorbed on 1.2 g of metal powder. The volume of oxygen adsorbed per gram  of the adsorbent at NTP is

  • So we have
  •                Metal + Oxygen will give metal oxide.
  •     Now 1.2 g of metal powder is absorbed by 4.8 g of oxygen.
  • So for 1 gm it will be 4.8 /1.2
  •                                   = 4 gm
  • So for oxygen gas we have
  •                                PV = W/M R T
  •                                1 x V = 4 / 32 x 0.0821 x 273
  •                                               V = 2.8 L/gm
