4) A ball of mass 100g travelling at 5 m/sec
is struck by a bat so as to return it along
its original path with a velocity at 2m/sec.
Calculate the change of momentum occurred in
the motion of the ball by the force applied
cricket bat.

m = 100g = 0.1kg ; u = 5m/s ; v = 2m/s

Change in momentum

= mv - mu

= m(v-u)

= 0.1kg (2m/s - 5m/s)

= -0.3 kg m/s

Change in momentum = -0.3 kg m/s
