4. A dhoti is 3 m long and 1.5 m wide. A
border of width 20 cm is to be printed
along its sides. If the cost of printing the
border is 3 per 10 cm, calculate the total

Dhoti:

Length = 3m = 300cm

Breadth = 1.5m = 150cm

Area = l x b = 300 x 150 = 45,000cm²

Dhoti Border:

Length = 300 + 20 + 20 = 340cm

Breadth = 150 + 20 + 20 = 190cm

Area = l x b = 340 x 190

= 64,600cm² - 45,000cm²

= 19,600cm² is the area of the dhoti border

If 10cm² = Rs 3

If 1cm² = Rs 3 / 10 = Rs 0.3

If 19,600cm² = Rs 0.3 x 19,600 = Rs 5,880

Total Cost = Rs 5,880
