Given that,

A metre scale is supported at the centre.

We need to calculate the distance of B from the pivot

Using formula of moment

W\times d=W\times d'

Where, W = weight of A

W' = weight of B

d = distance of A from the pivot

d' = distance of B from the pivot

Put the value into the formula

20\times 4=25\times x

x=\dfrac{20\times4}{25}

x=3.2\ cm

Hence, The distance of B from the pivot is 3.2 cm.
