4.A motor cyclist (to be treated as a
point mass) is to undertake horizontal
circles inside the cylindrical wall of a
well of inner radius 4m. Coefficient of
static friction between tyre and wall
is 0.4. The minimum speed to
perform this stunt is (use g=10m/s2) *
*
O 1m/s
O v10 m/s
O 100m/s

Answer:

Given data:

cylindrical well of radius r=6.05

Coefficient of friction is μ=0.5

Mass of the artist is m=50kg

What we have to find out :-

1) how much minimum speed should the stunt artist maintain Vmin= ?

2) How much will the force of friction be if she / he increase the speed by 20%= ?

The minimum velocity to maintain motion is given by

v=μrg

Vmin=0.56.05×10     ........ [g=10m/s2]

=121

Vmin=11m/s

In well of death , the force of friction is depend on weight, you can refer from figure in textbook, hence we get,

f=fs=mg=50×10

f=500N
