4. A number is such that it is as much greater than 45 as it is less than 75. Find the number.

Answer:

Let the number be y

Let the number be x less than 75

That is ,75-x=y.......1

And let it be x more than 45

y=45+x.......2

From 1 and 2

75-x=45+x

x=15

Therefore,the number is 75-15 which is equal to 60 or you can add 45+15 . So you can do any one 75-15 or 45+15 the answer you get will be the same.

 \mapsto \sf \: x   + x = 75  + 45

 \mapsto \sf \: 2x= 120

 \mapsto \sf \:x=   \cancel\dfrac{120}{2}

 \mapsto \sf  \large\boxed{ \sf \: x=   60}

\therefore The number is 60.
