SOLUTION

GIVEN

A relation R is given by the set

R = {(x, y) : y = x + 3 , x ∈ {0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5} }

TO DETERMINE

The domain and range

EVALUATION

Here the given relation is

R = {(x, y) : y = x + 3 , x ∈ {0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5} }

For x = 0 we have y = 3

For x = 1 we have y = 4

For x = 2 we have y = 5

For x = 3 we have y = 6

For x = 4 we have y = 7

For x = 5 we have y = 8

Thus we get

R = {(0,3), (1,4),(2,5),(3,6),(4,7),(5,8)}

Domain of R = {0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

Range of R = { 3 , 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 }
