4. A solid contains elements A and B.
Atoms A are arranged in ccp way,
atoms B occupy all the octahedral
voids and half of the tetrahedral
voids. What is the formula of the

THIS IS DONE BY THE FORMULA

= AB2

Hey!

ccp and fcc are same in 1 unit cell a total of 4 atoms of Q will be present as-

(0.5*6 faces) +(0.125*8 corners) =4

Now, as we know that there are 8 tetrahedral voids in fcc structure so 1 unite cell has 8 P atoms. Which gives us the formula of the compound as-P8Q4 which may also be written as P2Q.
