Given:

A square table of side 90 cm has a frame of width 3 cm around it.

To find:

(1). The outer area of the table

(2). The area of the frame.

Solution:

The side of the square table = 90 cm

∴ Area of the square table = side² = 90² = 8100 cm²

(1). Finding the outer area of the table:

The width of the frame around the square table = 3 cm

So,

The length of the outer side of the table = 90 + (2 × 3) = 90 + 6 = 96 cm

∴ The outer area of the table = (outer side)² = (96)² = 9216 cm²

Thus, \boxed{\bold{Outer\:area \:of\: the\:table\:is\:\underline{9216\:cm^2}}}.

(2). Finding the area of the frame:

The area of the frame is,

= [Outer area of the table] - [Area of the square table]

= [9216 cm²] - [8100 cm²]

= 1116 cm²

Thus, \boxed{\bold{Area \:of\: the\:frame\:is\:\underline{1116\:cm^2}}}.
