Let the stone is thrown from a building of height 'H'

u = +3m/s g = -10m/s² t = 2s

-H = ut + gt²/2

-H = 6 + (-10 x 4)/2

-H = 6 - 20 = -12

H = 12m

note: -H because the displacement is downwards and downwards is assumed negative direction
