Answer:

101.5

distance covered in 1 hr = 42/4 = 10.5 km

distance covered in 40 mins = (10.5/60)×40

total time given = 9 hrs 40 mins

then total distance travelled in 9 hrs 40 mins is :

84km (for 8 hrs) + 10.5km (for 1 hr) + 7km (for 40 mins)

=101.5 km

Answer :-

  • Firstly we will find the speed of the train from the help of given distance and time

\sf{Speed = \dfrac{Distance}{Time}}

\sf{Speed = \dfrac{42}{4}}

\sf{Speed = \dfrac{21}{2}} km/hr

  • Now that's the speed of the train and the another time has also given so we will find the distance with the help of time and speed.

  • Speed = \sf\dfrac{21}{2}

  • Time = 8 hr 40 min.

8 hr 40 min.

\bf{(8+\dfrac{40}{60})}

\bf{(8+\dfrac{2}{3})}

\bf{\dfrac{24+2}{3}}

\bf{\dfrac{26}{3}hr}

{}

\sf{Distance = Speed\times Time}

\sf{Distance = \dfrac{21}{2} \times (8+\dfrac{2}{3})}

\sf{Distance = \dfrac{21}{2} \times \dfrac{26}{3}}

\sf{Distance = 13\times 7}

\sf{Distance = 91 \:km}

So, the train will cover 91 km within given time
