4 ABC and BDE are two equilateral triangles
such that D is the mid-point of BC.
Then, ar(BDE) = 1/4 ar(ABC).​

In similar triangles ratio of area is square of ratio of sides which is 1/2

here so it's square 1/4 .

Or use formula of area √3/4a^2
