Sub: Important Update for Better future of Young Citizens — Every Need for Educational Counselors to Help Chose Career.
Dear Sir,
I am Vinita of class XII from St.Joseph’s Covent School. I am writing to you believing that you are one of the best media to help shape a better future of young citizens.
We, the current high school students and our younger generations have been suffering immensely with the fact that we are supposed to pick a career from a large stream of options after senior school level studies.
As freshers to this area, we have been finding it very difficult to move forward and pick a career. Such an important decision has become a hit or a missed game. We pick careers that would benefit the country, but at times we have heard the stories where students fail to serve the country or benefit themselves due to the lack of knowledge in choosing a career path.
This is to make you understand that there is every need for Educational Counsellors in each school. We are assuming that such a change can be brought up only if the higher authorities really understand the need for it. We also believe that you are the strongest possible means that these such needs would reach the higher authorities.
Request you to please throw light on the issue and save us all from walking into wrong tracks of life.
Thanking you Sir.
Yours Sincerely,
Vinita.

Subject: Need to have educational counsellors for guidance of students
Sir
Through the medium of the column of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to emphasize the need of having educational counsellors in each school for students who pass the secondary school examination.
After passing the secondary school examination, a candidate has to make a very difficult choice from a number of streams available to him at the senior school level. This selection affects the entire course of the learners’ academic career as well as life. Yet, students are completely at sea at this stage. There is no valid mechanism to assess the candidate’s suitability for a particular stream. So the candidate gets extremely confused and feels rather unsure of the stream that he should choose. Often students make wrong choices due to parental, societal and peer pressure.
The school needs to step in, with educational counselors guiding the learners in the right direction.
Since the counselors will get an opportunity to observe the students during school days, they will be able to gauge an individual’s capabilities, interests, strengths and weaknesses. Putting the rubrics together, supported by aptitude test results, they will be in a position to advise the students about what they could pursue successfully. Educational counselors have in-depth understanding of the myriad career options available, which the students and even parents might not be aware of. This will open up new horizons for the learners, that too in areas that they can excel in.
If it is made mandatory for all schools to appoint educational counsellors it will prove very beneficial for the students and their parents. It will be easy for them to choose the stream they want to pursue at the senior school level.
I hope you will publish my letter in your newspaper so that the matter is brought to the notice of the concerned authorities and they can initiate immediate action to help the students.
Yours sincerely
Vinita
