Thus, the aluminium protects itself from any corrosion by the formation of a layer of aluminium oxide over the entire metal surface and thus, aluminium is termed as a self-protecting metal.

Aluminium is called a self-protecting metal because it has having layer of a oxygen over it surface which not result in the formation of rust unlike with iron

mrinmay101999: Well, it is not covered by a layer of oxygen, but rather by a layer of metal oxide which protects it from further oxidation and hence rusting. (Aluminium oxide here)
