Photosynthesis utilizes carbon dioxide and water in the presence of light to produce glucose and oxygen.

Respiration uses oxygen and glucose to power the activities of the cell.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment.

They are in reality the same reactions but occurring in reverse. While in photosynthesis carbon dioxide and water yield glucose and oxygen, through the respiration process glucose and oxygen yield carbon dioxide and water.

The main difference between photosynthesis and respiration is where it occurs, one being in plants and some bacteria and the other being in most every other living thing.

The other difference is that plants require sunlight for the process to occur, whereas respiration does not.
