Answer :

During the corrosion of iron or rusting of iron, iron metal is oxidised by the oxygen of air in the presence of water or moisture to form hydrated iron (III) oxide called rust.

(a) 4Fe + 3O2 + 2xH2O ----> 2Fe2O3.xH2O

When vinegar which is a acetic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate which is a baking soda, to form sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and water are formed.

(b) CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ----> CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O

When carbon dioxide gas is passed through lime water, the lime water turns milky due to the formation of white precipitate of calcium carbonate.

(c) CO2 + Ca(OH)2 ----> CaCO3 + H2O

When a piece of iron metal or we can say iron nail is placed in copper sulphate solution, then iron sulphate solution and copper metal are formed.

(d) CuSO4 + Fe ----> FeSO4 + Cu

Answer:

(a) 4Fe + 302 + 2xH20 ----> 2Fe2O3.xH20

(b) CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ----> CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O

(c) CO2 + Ca(OH)2 --> CaCO3 + H2O

(d) CuSO4 + Fe ---> FeSO4 + Cu

Explanation:

a)During the corrosion of iron or rusting of iron, iron metal is oxidised by the oxygen of air in the presence of water or moisture to form hydrated iron (III) oxide called rust.

b)When vinegar which is a acetic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate which is a baking soda, to form sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and water are formed.

c)When carbon dioxide gas is passed through lime water, the lime water turns milky due to the formation of white precipitate of calcium carbonate.

d)When a piece of iron metal or we can say iron nail is placed in copper sulphate solution, then iron sulphate solution and copper metal are formed.
