It was my cousin's wedding. Preparations were being made for the departure of the baraat. But suddenly, we realised that our great grandfather, the patriarch of our family, Bade Dadaji and his wheel chair both were missing! We couldn’t proceed without him, and yet he was nowhere to be found! It was a rather straightforward path, from the entrance of the house to the bus parked outside. We asked everyone - helpers, guests, neighbours- no one knew a thing. The children were too busy wildly chasing one another to help. Twenty minutes later, the bus driver came to us, visibly irritated at the delay.
Before we could utter a word about the hold up, the man almost in tears, pleaded, ‘Please, please, can we leave as soon as possible? I am having a very hard time. For the last half an hour, I have been forced to listen to driving instructions from an old man. I don’t think I can handle it any longer.’
While the man had tears of torture in his eyes, we had tears of joy in ours! The driver had almost lost his mind but Bade Dadaji had been found! Bade Dadaji had asked the bus conductor to take him over to the driver’s side of the bus, where he had been all this while.
