Energy: Energy is the capacity for doing work.
Example : To move an object energy should be transferred to the object.
Work : The amount of force acting on the body to displace it in the direction of force.
Example: Moving a book on the table.
Relationship between work and energy A weightlifter lifts a barbell of some weight and displaces it from the ground to a certain height . Here, the work done upon the barbell is against gravity. But at the same time he uses his energy to lift the barbell. Here the energy is transferred to the barrel.
