4. Diameter of a circle is 40cm and distance of the chord from centre of the circle is 12 cm

Find the length of the chord.

Answer:

prependicular drawn from centre of the circle to its chord bisect the chord

so by Pythagoras theorem

radius ²=distance of chord from centre ²+half of chord²

half of chord²=d/2-12²

1/2 of chord²400-144
