Tubectomy and Vasectomy:

Introduction:

Asectomy is a surgical cutting of vasa deferentia of the male through a small incision in the scrotum for sterilization. tubectomy is the surgical cutting of the fallopian tube of the female by a small incision in the abdomen through vagina for sterilization. Vasectomy is a surgical procedure performed on males.

Tubectomy:

  • Tubal ligation or tubectomy is a surgical procedure for sterilization in which a woman's fallopian tubes are clamped and blocked, or severed and sealed, either method of which prevents eggs from reaching the uterus for fertilization.
  • Tubal ligation is surgery to block a woman's Fallopian tubes. A tubal ligation is a permanent form of birth control. After this procedure has been performed, an egg cannot move from the ovary through the tubes and eventually to the uterus.

Vasectomy:

  • Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization or permanent contraception. During the procedure, the male vas deferens are cut and tied or sealed so as to prevent sperm from entering into the urethra and thereby prevent fertilization of a female through sexual intercourse.
  • With the "no-scalpel" method, a small puncture hole is made on one side of the scrotum. The health care provider will find the vas deferens under the skin and pull it through the hole. The vas deferens is then cut and a small section is removed. The ends are either cauterized or tied off and then put back in place.

Answer:

  • Vasectomy is basically removal ( ectomy - removal) of this vas deferens which renders the male sterile. Tubectomy is the sterilization done in females. Here a part of fallopian tubes (where fertilization of sperm and ovum takes place) is removed and the rest of it is tied.
