Meiosis has two rounds of genetic separation and cellular division while mitosis only has one of each. In meiosis homologous chromosomes separate leading to daughter cells that are not genetically identical. In mitosis the daughter cells are identical to the parent as well as to each other.

DIFFERENCES ARE FOLLOWING

★ It involves single division
★ formation of two daughter cells
★ the daughter cell has the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
★ It mainly takes place in the somatic cells.
MEIOSIS :-
★ t involves two successive divisions
★ formation of four daughter cells.
★ the chromosome number is reduced to half
★ It mainly takes place in the reproductive cells
