Answer:

Scientists attribute soil formation to the following factors: Parent material, climate, biota (organisms), topography and time.

The major factors affecting the formation of soil are relief, parent material, climate, vegetation and other life-forms and time. Besides these, human activities also influence it to a large extent. The parent material of soil may be deposited by streams or derived from in-situ weathering.

Answer:

There are many factors that control soil formation.

Explanation:

Soil formation is caused due to breakdown of material.

Water: When a river flows it slowly erodes rocks surrounding it, carrying the eroded material to the banks and mouth of the river.

Heat/Sunlight: the sun heats the rocks to a high temperature hence splitting it. The other elements are free to act on it.

Air: Air at high speeds erodes mountains and deposits the eroded material faraway.

Ice(optional): In cold biomes(places) Ice is formed between cracks formed by heat, air, water and other elements. When the temperature rises the Ice turns to water which turns to water vapour which expands. When the water vapour expands, the rock is split hence eroding the rock which is free to be eroded by elements explained above.
