Answer: Fluids are the substances which have no definite shape of its own. Their shape is assumed to be the shape of the container.
For example: Water, milk, glycerin, etc.
Some important terms related to fluids :
- Fluid Thrust ⇒ The total normal force exerted by a fluid at rest on a given surface in contact with it is called Fluid Thrust on that surface.
- Fluid Pressure ⇒ The thrust carried by a fluid at rest per unit area of the surface in contact with it is called Fluid Pressure
- Pressure due to Liquid column ⇒ The pressure exerted by a liquid at a point depending upon the vertical depth of the point and the density of the liquid is called Pressure due to liquid column.
- Pascal's Law ⇒ This law states that pressure in a fluid in equilibrium is the same everywhere, if the effect of gravity can be neglected.
