for example if you divide 2.3 by 10 then you move the decimal point one point to the left so the answer would be 0.23.

so basically depending on how many zeros there are in the number you are dividing it (10 one zero, 100 two zeros, 1000 three zeros, 10000 four zeros etc) is how many times you move the decimal point to the LEFT.

however if you are multiplying the number, you would move the decimal point to the RIGHT. so 2.3 times 10 would be 23.
