  • Noise pollution can be defined as any disturbing or unwanted noise that interferes or harms humans or wildlife. Although noise constantly surrounds us, noise pollution generally receives less attention than water quality and air quality issues because it cannot be seen, tasted, or smelled.

  • Due to increasing noise around the civilizations; noise pollution has become a matter of concern. Some of its major causes are vehicles, aircraft, industrial machines, loudspeakers, crackers, etc. Some other appliances also contribute to noise pollution like television, transistor, radio, etc. when used at high volume.

  • Some sources of noise pollution are as follows:Television and radios running at high volumes, Loudspeakers and crackers, Horns of buses, cars and trucks, Appliances such as mixer, desert cooler, etc. used at homes, Heavy industries, thermal power plants, stone cutting and grinding machines.

  • Types of noise pollution.Sudden, loud noises can actually harm the eardrum. Ambient noise, which is constant background noise, damages the middle ear. Psychological damage is caused by both kinds of noise. White noise, which is like static on a radio or television, can be extremely irritating.
