yes, it happens because here 9 is recurring and as it is increasing its difference from 1 is getting reduced so when it will be expressed in the form of p/q . it will give 1 as a result.

x = 0.999... (1)

multiplying both sides by 10

we get,

10x = 9.99... (2)

now,

subtracting eq (1) from (2)

10x - x = 9.99.. - 0.99..

9x = 9

x = 1
