Given equation:

  • 2x - y + k = 0

Here,

  • x = - 5
  • y = 2

To find:

  • Value of k?

Solution:

We know that,

If x and y are the solution of given equation,

So, when we put the value of x and y in it then, equation must be equal to zero.

Now, Putting these values in given equation,

→ 2(-5) - (2) + k = 0

→ - 10 - 2 + k = 0

→ - 12 + k = 0

→ k = 12

Hence, Value of k is 12.

Verification:

→ 2(-5) - (2) + 12 = 0

→ - 10 - 2 + 12 = 0

→ -12 + 12 = 0

→ 0 = 0

→ LHS = RHS

Hence, Proved!
