Given:

5.85g NaCl is dissolved in 500ml water

(Kb of water = 0.512 K kg/mole)

Find boiling point = ?

First find the molarity

\text { Molarity }=\frac{\text { W eight }}{\text { M. wt }} \times \frac{1000}{\mathrm{~V}(\mathrm{ml})}

=\frac{5.85}{58.5} \times \frac{1000}{500}

Molarity = 0.2 M

Now find boiling point of solution

\Delta \mathrm{T}=\mathrm{mK}_{\mathrm{b}}

ΔT = 0.5 × 0.512

ΔT = 0.256 C°

Hence the boiling point of solution is 0.256 C°
