Step-by-step explanation:

The area of planks =length x breadth

=4m x2.2m

=8.8m

five planks would be painted =5x8.8

=44m

the cost of planks painted =44x2.50

=110m

The answer is Rs 220

GIVEN

Five planks of wood each of length 4 m and breadth 2.2 m are to be painted

both sides.

Rate of painting is 2.50 per sqm

TO FIND

The cost of painting.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Dimensions of wooden plank = 4m × 2.2m

Area of the rectangle = Length × breath

Area of one plank = 4 × 2.2 = 8.8 meter square

Total area of plank to be painted = 2 × 8.8 = 17.6 meter square (Each plank is painted on both the sides)

Total area to be painted of 5 planks = 17.6 × 5 = 88 meter square

Now,

Cost of painting 1 meter square of area = Rs 2.50

Cost of painting 88 meter square of area = 2.50 × 88 = Rs 220

Hence, The answer is Rs 220
