4. Four forces act at a point. The first is 200 N acting due north, the second of 100 N acting due south, the third of 500 N acting due east and the fourth of 300 N acting due west. What is the magnitude and direction of the resultant force.​

Effective force along north direction=200j-100j=100j (j is unit vector along y axis)

Effective force along east direction=500i-300i=200i(i is the unit vector along x axis)

Now the net force=100j+200i

Magnitude of force = 223.606 N

Direction of resultant force = tan^-1(1/2)
