4 main funtions of the cell membrane are:-

1. Boundary- saparates the cell from each other and their environment

2. It also controls the exchange of materials that are allowed in and out of the cell.

3. Allows cell to signal other cells, cells have protein called receptors that bind the signaling molecules and initiate a physiological response.

4. It is also callled selectively permeable membrance as it allows the entry and exit of some materials in and out the cell it also prevents movement of some other materials.

Hope it helps you
